70 youth members of the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Catherine of Alexandria and student journalists, along with their teachers, pledged to fight disinformation and fake news during a seminar held at the Archbishop Teofilo Camomot hall in Carcar City, Cebu last October 23, 2022.
Cebu Caritas Program Director Fr. Alden John Baran talked on the crucial role of the church in the campaign against disinformation and fake news. Cebu Caritas Communications Head Atty. Maria Jane Paredes gave tips on how to spot and to stop disinformation. She also discussed some techniques on newswriting.
The activity was part of Radyo Catalina’s 2nd Anniversary as the social communication arm of the parish.
Cebu Caritas Inc. is the mandated social action arm of the Archdiocese of Cebu. It serves the Anawim through its Humanitarian, Developmental, and Justice and Peace programs.
